Quick Fried Zucchini Balls

These fried zucchini balls are ideal finger food made with batter and grated zucchini. You will adore these snacks soft inside and crispy from outside. These balls are ideal hot as well as cold. They are ideal for your buffet served together with croquettes, panzerotti and other snack food.

You can deep these fried zucchini balls in any sauce. We like to eat them with anchovies - this combo is great.

How to make quick fried zucchini balls

For making these quick fried zucchini balls you will first need to grate zucchini and sprinkle with salt and leave for about 10 minutes. Then drain water from them. In a bowl combine an egg and milk and then add flour and baking powder. Fold zucchini and mix everything. Fry in deep oil for about 2 - 3 minutes and serve while still warm!

Useful tips for making quick fried zucchini balls

  • Drain zuccnini to excess the water from them.

  • Once the oil is heated, lower the heat because zucchini balls will burn out from outside and still don't cooked inside.

Quick Fried Zucchini Balls

  • 200 g zucchini (1 small zucchini)
  • 1 medium egg
  • 50 ml milk
  • 70 g plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying


  • First grate zucchini and sprinkle with salt. Leave for about 10 minutes and then squeeze excess moisture from zucchini. 

  • Whisk an egg with milk in a bowl and add 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add sifted flour and baking powder and combine well. Fold grated zucchini and mix everything.

  • Place an oil in a deep skillet and heat on a medium heat. Using a tablespoon place a small amounts of batter into the hot oil and fry for about 2 - 3 minutes or until balls are golden. Drain on the kitchen paper and serve while still warm!
