Italian Fried Desserts

Italian fried desserts are among the most popular sweets in Italy. Prepared throughout Italy, they come in a variety of versions depending on the region. 

We are huge fans of these soft desserts and are always happy to prepare them. We have some great recipes for frìtole veneziane - fried dough balls with raising and pine nuts, castagnole in a variety of versions, crostoli - light ribbons of fried pastry flavoured with citruses and grappa. 

Fried desserts are the best eaten still warm and sprinkled with some icing sugar.
