Umbria, the green heart of Italy, is from where some of the best olive oils in Italy comes. One of the most quality extra virgin olive oils is produced at Il Fontanaro estate thanks to its 3000 olive trees. The olives are hand picked and processed in traditional way in their own solar mill.
Besides olive trees, they also have vineyards of old Sangiovese and Grechetto grapes from which they produce wines. As we already mentioned, there is a wine cellar on the estate which keeps a wide choice of the best Italian wines. You will have chance to sample some of them and learn a lot from professional sommelier Alina.
Although you might easily decide to spend your entire vacation on the Il Fontanaro but you can easily explore the surrounding area. Lake Trasimeno is a ten minutes away as is the pretty little town of Citta della Pieve. From here you can also visit hill-top towns of Val d'Orcia, Orvieto, Perugia, Marsciano, Deruta, Todi and Assisi as well as Tuscan cities - Montepulciano and Pienza.

If you are travelling from Rome by train you will arrive to Chiusi train station (train ride is 1,5 hours) which is situated 15 km from Il Fontanaro estate. Your hosts will be happy to meet you at the train station and drive you to the property.
