The Colosseum is one of the most visited sights in Rome and usually you will find lines in front of it. Find out useful info about buying Colosseum tickets and skipping the line at the Colosseum and avoiding waiting for 2 hours. For security reasons, only 3000 people are allowed inside the Colosseum in the same time. This means that even if you bought your skip-the-line ticket, you might have to wait for a while.

How to Skip the Line at the Colosseum

Buy tickets at Palatine Hill or the Roman Forum

if you have not planned in advance and didn't purchase tickets then you can skip lines by buying your tickets at the Roman Forum or Palatine Hill.

Colosseum tickets also include entrance to the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. These tickets are valid for two consecutive days so you can see the Colosseum one day and go back the next day to see other two sites. This will allow you to avoid the line to buy tickets at the Colosseum, but you will have to wait in the security line.

Purchase skip-the-line tickets in advance

If you already know the day and time of your visit to the Colosseum you can buy a range of tickets in advance through Tiqets.

Once you purchase your tickets you will get an e-mail or SMS with a barcode which you need to show the Tiqets representative who will wait near the green kiosk in front of Colosseo metro stop. The representative will take you to the skip-the-line entrance where you need to pass security check. Once you are inside you will have time on your own to explore the Colosseum.

Usually tickets also include entrance to the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. Once you finish exploring the Colosseum your you will meet Tiqets representative next to the Arch of Constantine situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill. You will be guided to the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill where you will have enough time to explore them on your own.

Those who visit the Colosseum on tour goes directly to the Group Entrance instead of regular entrance. Taking the tour will grant you access to areas like underground and also 4th of 5th levels, than regular ticket simply don't include.
